Elementary School Academics
At Indiana Gateway Digital Academy (INGDA), we believe all students should wake up excited to learn, and that true learning starts by calling out to the innate curiosity in each child and sparking the excitement of discovery.

That’s why INGDA uses the K12 curriculum. It was created by an experienced team of educators using proven instructional approaches. At the elementary level, students take courses in the core subjects listed below. Beginning in grade 3, they also take a self-guided elective course in art, music or PE/Health.

A Strong Foundation for Your Child’s Academic Journey
The elementary curriculum focuses on developing fundamental skills and teaching the key knowledge building blocks that each student needs to master the major subject areas, meet state standards, and complete more advanced coursework. Our personalized approach means students can go as fast or slow as they need to.
Bringing Lessons to Life
Lessons come alive with a rich mixture of online and hands-on materials including interactive animations; printed books with beautiful illustrations and narrative, original music and videos; and materials for hands-on experiments.*
Lessons are followed by formal and informal assessments, so you can be sure that your child has mastered a concept before moving on. Built-in planning and progress tools make it easy to stay on track. And with hundreds of lessons per subject, students can dive deeply into areas of interest.

Recurring Themes
Throughout our K–5 courses, you’ll find repeated themes that build on the previous grade’s teaching and weave an ever-richer tapestry of knowledge. That means your child may be reading literature from the same time period as the art or history lesson being studied. A story about a king who lost his wife and built a monument to her dovetails with an examination of the architecture and history of the Taj Mahal.

Reading & Writing Curricula; Remedial Programs
Currently, INGDA Elementary School is using Amplify (CKLA) as part of the approved Science of Reading curriculum approved by the IDOE. This is used for whole-class instruction. I-Ready and Amira are used as intervention tools and each student will have an individualized learning pathway focused specifically on his/her academic needs. Tier 2 intervention sessions are held for all of those students who are not on grade level for literacy and students are expected to use Amira for personalized pathways in addition to i-Ready.
I-Ready, Amira, Acadience, IREAD, ILEARN, ILEARN checkpoints and progress monitoring of fluency are all used to improve literacy based on the Science of Reading and IDOE expectations. INGDA has seen growth in literacy by implementing intervention strategies and personalized pathways using i-Ready and Amira. These pathways are based in i-Ready data which is assessed three times a year (BOY, MOY AND EOY). Intervention groups are developed based in this data and IREAD.
INGDA follows the State Mandate of the 3rd grade Reading Law that all students who are not eligible for a Good Cause Exemption must pass IREAD or they will be retained in 3rd grade. Students have opportunities in 2nd grade to take IREAD and pass it. Students also have opportunities in March, May and June to pass IREAD in 3rd grade. Students who do not pass IREAD in March or May are required to attend summer school and additional intervention sessions.
