Dual credit courses in high school – Discover how Indiana Gateway Digital Academy students can earn college credits—and even an associate degree—while in high school through a partnership with Ivy Tech.

At Indiana Gateway Digital Academy (INGDA), we believe in empowering students to take charge of their future. One of the most powerful ways students can do that is by earning college credits, and even an associate degree, before they graduate from high school through dual credit courses.

Through our partnership with Ivy Tech Community College, students can complete Indiana’s 30-credit college core and earn a full associate degree while still in high school. The dual credit path is ideal for students who are driven, curious, and ready to accelerate their college and career journey.

How It Works

Students begin by enrolling in dual credit courses that fulfill high school and college requirements. These courses are carefully selected to meet Ivy Tech’s core curriculum standards, ensuring students can apply these credits toward a degree.

Once the 30-credit Indiana College Core is complete, students can continue working with counselors and advisors to take the additional coursework needed to reach the 60-credit threshold for an associate degree. This is done with support from INGDA staff and Ivy Tech faculty, so students never feel like they’re navigating this journey alone.

Meet Sierra: Building a Bridge to the Future

Sierra, an INGDA student on track to graduate with her high school diploma and an associate degree from Ivy Tech took advantage of this opportunity and is working to get ahead on her degree. Through this opportunity, INGDA is positioning Sierra for greater success after she graduates high school.

“Earning your high school diploma and associate degree simultaneously gives you a real head start—it’s like building a bridge to your future instead of jumping into the unknown,” Sierra shared. “Whether you plan to go to college or straight into a career, you’ll be more confident, prepared, and competitive. You can even start college as a junior and save thousands on tuition. It’s a game-changer.”

Sierra’s story shows what’s possible when students take advantage of the flexibility and opportunity that INGDA and Ivy Tech provide. By completing the full 60 college credits, she’s saved time and money and stepped into her future with confidence.

The Benefits of Earning College Credits in High School

Save Money: Students can save thousands on college tuition by completing credits early.

Save Time: Start college as a sophomore or junior, or graduate early.

Gain Confidence: College-level coursework builds academic skills, time management, and personal discipline.

Stay Competitive: Whether entering a four-year university or joining the workforce, an associate degree signals you’re ready.
