INGDA Student’s Lemonade Stand Exceeds Fundraising Goal 

Since 1954, the WHAS Crusade for Children has been raising money to make life better for children with identified health care, educational, and emotional wellness needs by inspiring generosity with community partners. This year, an Indiana Gateway Digital Academy (INGDA) 3rd grader was inspired to help. 

INGDA student Keegan set up a lemonade stand at Marengo Cave in Southern Indiana in May with a goal to raise $100. His mom and learning coach, Selena, was there to help. 

“If it wasn’t for us doing online school, Keegan wouldn’t have gotten the opportunity to do this,” Selena said. “The school is so flexible and encourages kids to get involved in their community.” 

Keegan first enrolled at INGDA in kindergarten, following in the footsteps of his brother, who graduated in 2024. Keegan also has a sister who is enrolled at INGDA and three siblings who attend brick-and-mortar school. Selena shared that their family thrives on flexibility, and they can do more together because of it. Keegan added that he likes INGDA because he can “do more activities and talk to people on the K12 Zone.” 

The K12 Zone is an interactive virtual campus that turns online school into an open-world experience. Students can hang out with classmates, participate in activities and clubs, and access learning resources in a safe, welcoming environment. 

“We’ve learned throughout the years that some virtual schools have zero meet-and-greets and social opportunities, so we really make that a priority,” Selena shared. 

Between INGDA’s flexibility and encouragement to participate in the community, a lemonade stand was the perfect way for Keegan to get out and support fellow kids. 

After a day of selling lemonade, Keegan exceeded his goal, raising $150 total to donate to WHAS Crusade for Children to help children with identified needs! He was one of the first participants to turn in his donation, which earned him a free day of admission to Kentucky Kingdom.
